John York without Barry McGuirre

We were scheduled to have Barry McGuirre and John York do their show “Trippin’ the Sixties”. John and Barry have been doing this show now for six years which started at our house concert series in March of 2008  and we have had them back every year since. Our reservation list was filled to capacity with some names on the waiting list.   A few days before the concert, Barry became ill from severe dehydration.  He cancelled the show and John offered to perform alone so as not to disappoint the folks who had reservations.  He did a wonderful job and kept the energy flowing to make up for Barry’s absence.   During the show, John made the announcement that Barry has cancelled his “Trippin’ the Sixties” shows for the rest of the year with no plans to continue them in the future.  He and his wife, Mari have decided it's time to retire from public appearances, and spend the time they have left in the privacy of their own backyard. It was a good run and we will miss the tradition of hosting them every year.

This happened to be our 28th wedding anniversary.  A family member requested that we sing “The Rose” which was the song we played at our wedding.  John introduced us and we played the song before he began his concert.
